What you need to make a game

You are going to make a game at your own web address. Anyone you send the link to can play the game. They can play together from different homes.

Who does what: The child has the ideas, says what to change, and plays. The grown-up handles the accounts, types, and presses the buttons. An AI helper named Claude writes the code.

Time: about an hour the first time. After that, as long as you like.

  • A computer with a web browser. A tablet or phone works too, but a computer is easiest the first time.
  • A GitHub account (free) at github.com. GitHub keeps your game’s code and puts it on the web. You must be 13 or older to have an account. For a younger child, it is a grown-up’s account.
  • Claude, Pro plan or higher, at claude.ai. It includes Claude Code, the AI helper this guide uses. The account holder must be 18 or older.
  1. Start from the template: your game’s own web address, in ten minutes.
  2. Connect Claude to your game: once, on the web.
  3. Ask for your first game: one sentence, then ask, merge, play.
  4. Improve your game: small asks, played after each.
  5. Play your game with friends: up to four devices, in other homes too.
  6. Add your game to the arcade: a tile on each of the family’s devices.

If something goes wrong: Fix common problems.
