Start from the template

A repository is your game’s home on GitHub. It holds the game’s code and files.

  1. Sign in to GitHub.
  2. Open the game starter.
  3. Make your own copy of it:
    1. Click the green Use this template button.
    2. Click Create a new repository.
  4. Give your game a name, in small letters with dashes instead of spaces: dragon-dash. You can change it later.
  5. Choose who can see the code:
    1. Choose Public.
    2. Click Create repository.
  1. In your new repository, click the Settings tab at the top. Its icon is a cog.
  2. In the list on the left, click Pages.
  3. Under Build and deployment, set Source to GitHub Actions.
  4. Publish the game for the first time:
    1. Click the Actions tab at the top.
    2. On the left, click Deploy to GitHub Pages.
    3. On the right, click Run workflow. A small box opens.
    4. In that box, click the green Run workflow button.
  5. Wait a minute or two. When the dot next to the run turns green, your game is on the web.

Your game is now at:

https://<your-github-name>.github.io/<game-name>/

Open that address. You see your game’s empty home page. It shows the game’s name, who is playing and a Play together button. It is empty because you have not asked for a game yet. To check that it works, try Play together on two devices.
